Woah!

Nice goin getting on the escapist xD (I like unskippable)

A real well done on the theme - it was kinda wierd starting off (a few seconds in around 0:07)
but it got into it, and was really good the only thing is that it's short and you didn't fully use that really good theme you had, you kept on changing melodies and kinda ended abruptly.

Apart from that perfect! and congrats again

nathanallenpinard responds:

Ah, yes it's a bit short due to the fact it was written specially for the UR intro, so the owned wanted me to make it no longer than a certain amount of seconds. The "weird area" actually makes more sense on the intro, as Rob kind of "dun dun dun" along with it.

As far as using the theme, it was almost note for note. However, because I had already done that in Season 1, something different was called for.

Much thanks for your comments!

nice

really liked the drums, perfect at the beginning;
nice capture of the jazz, I couldn't help but notice the guitar at the beginning didn't sound realistic enough and cut-off without much reverb, if any at all.

I like the brass and the trumpet(is it?) was amazing, piano part was ok and overall I think this a piece you should be proud of^^

haha, notice what?

all the old games are the best somehow- well, music-wise.

You don't see any remixes of resident evil 5 do you? xD

anyways, very good remix (as long as it isn't a MIDI rip >:( ) nice instruments and a nice tune that brings 2D memories to me :)

what they called? the god things? Djinns?

nice song

Review:
Well, everything is well made. It kinda sounds like it should be in a save menu for a freeware game or something.
Try using envelopes (volume fades), and differ the velocities.
Try having some more reverb.
Nice experimentation, the synths were ok, but the violin sound (at the end) didn't agree with my ears.
Overall, this song has a nice progression and base idea, but sounds too bland, or raw. The only instruments with character,

You show potential
6/10
5/5 --> mainly because you deserve more exposure,

PS, you will think think almost every new song is your best, and wait in a few years time - compare this song to you newest in 2010 and hear how much you have improved ;D

PSS, I like to work on an R4R (Review For Review) basis, so please PM me (newgrounds.com/pm/send/zero123music)
on your thoughts on my newest, and best xP

Don't you guys know who this is!?

Hey, I added you on myspace :) before this xD

I'm guessing you came to NG after some people who loved DJ Immune, only to learn he stole some of his best work from you.

I think he IS professional guys xD

well done, an extremely pro piece and not the least I would expect from Simon Daum.

Crap, i'm soo jealous D':

15 reviews!?

It captures the essence very well of hopes and dreams.

I really enjoyed this song, it was good and progressive;
the only thing I can critisise is the end section - maybe a bit repetitive, and the cymbals there maybe a little velocity tweaking ;)

I really loved the drum roll parts and the string samples were executed amazingly.

well done
and i hope I helped.

FairSquare responds:

Yeah, i got 15 reviews (with your review it's 16 :P), but i didn't get one review from people i don't know and i pmed most of them.
Thanks for the review!
And yes, you helped :-)

I couldn't read author comments

Sorry, about that xD I just don't have much time - I'm listening to this while doing lots of school work, and keyboard practice and such.

Review:

well, I 5'd this cause it deserves it, and moar PROPER reviews.

first of all - Goth? I would have said classical, as this is just a piano. I thought the genre was the.. erm.. "Genre" not really the feel of the song as such. *though you could argue easily about that^^

anyways, it did achieve the goal very well, and seeing as it's made for a flash I overlooked the longevity.

The velocity on all the notes was perfect and the piano sample or vst you used is beautiful. Maybe a little more reverb .

My only real criticism is the repeat of chords- the progression is good but it doesn't make me forget that you use those chords for some the song. And maybe a

As dragon knight said - it is very haunting, and easy to listen to,

If it wasn't for a flash - I would say too long (though i am still thinking that because of the repeated chords)

but, If I push that aside, you have a very well made song.

crap, i didn't notice how long this review has been xD
sorry^^

Jabicho responds:

Thanks man, hehe I suck at recognizing genres =P so i'm not sure either, but I think it's the eerie feeling that get's it to this genre. But yep, I was thinking about putting it in classical too.

Hehe my longest to date, I don't like making long pieces, but I think it's the fact I joined four scenes. At the beggining I was thinking about making four individual pieces, but they were too short lol

Thanks man, your review means a lot, take care!

are you shi**in me?

Of course this song is amazing blah blah,

but I didn't know you made it!?

man, stop stealing all the macs! D';

sorohanro responds:

:)))
What else would you expect from a trumpet player than spreading his loudness all over places :)))
Thanx for review.

It shows

the amount of work shows, very age of empires and slightly chinese.

As with most of your songs, this was very progressive and really nice at that.
Good orchestral samples, maybe some articulations on the woodwind (though I don't even do that xD)

Nice intro too ;D

Overall, really liked it - and well done getting do many reviews, I normally only get this much by PM'ing people xD

FairSquare responds:

Lol, PM'ed people too :P
Thanks for the review!

MH16

woah.. taco =)

a nice song -
good chord selection

I liked the percussion in the bg, and the ending segment was well done.

I would suggest having a volume envelope on the choir as they came in a bit loud.
nice crunch lol xD

Assassin2 responds:

Thankyou sir.
Can you keep a secret? I can't do enveloping yet = O
When I do it doesn't normalize again and whatever bleh...
