Sounds like FF in the making

I loved at the beginning of 0:07 - but the right hand's melody i thought didn't really go.

Try repeating a melody riff - then change a few notes in the second repeat of the rift so that people can relate to something they have already heard - and the change makes it more interesting.

Plus - try some reverb :D FL has edison where you can add effects and reverb.

The first 6 seconds were great though xD

Lamplighter responds:

Now this was helpful. :) I'll be working on this soon. I'm going to try out that repetition you suggested and see what I can do... oh, and I did have reverb on this. It's weird, because I put the knob up to 125% on FL Reeverb 2 and I still can't hear much of a difference... it might be the overlapping delay I put after the verb, though. It should work if I switch the order...

Glad you thought at least some of this was good... haha, for some reason I find that last bit funny. Ah well. Thanks for the helpful review!

So, fantasy

makes me feel like i'm floating around white space where everything is calm.

Lovely - btw nice looping method
I mean woah, I used that before once I think and didn't notice xD

Nice

Nice looping and great melody
well done

alternativesolution responds:

Thanks!

Sorry

I may not agree totally with Spirit - but the strings are sounding a bit like a soundfont or keyboard recorded.

mixing - or changing the sample for the strings i suggest

The progression is very nice and the chords don't get too old
Nice work
Good Luck with a music career if you ever wish to pursue one!
5/5

FairSquare responds:

Yeah, you're right about the strings.
I'll try to change that.
Thanks for the review and the 5 :-)

Finally!!

I liked the samples very much -you still both using rusty old FL Studio!?
this is amazing, especially on free software!! of course Blaze was the kind soul who turned me onto FL so thank him.

Great choirs - were they timpani's on the calm part? it is really unusual hearing that but worked so well!

Very well orchestrated and put together, obviously lots of time went into this.

My only suggestion is the Cymbal to be an orchestral cymbal, and if it was the quality wasn't the best and it wasn't that loud.
But out of a whole song all I could criticize was one piece of percussion!

5/5 - 10/10
Good Luck in MAC8
Merry Christmas
oh! and tell blaze happy birthday!!

Tamadrum responds:

[This is Blaze responding]

Yep, we're still running off of the good 'ol FL Studio 8 Demo. Everything here was just free soundfonts except for the piano, which is a free direct wave file that I found here on Newgrounds.

The "timpani's" were actually snare drums. Tamadrum lowered the pitch significantly and we saturated them with reverb to make that cannon-like sound. (Just another trick in the book. XD)

I would have personally liked the cymbal to be louder and more dramatic, but it is too late to go back and fix it now. :P

Thanks for the review and the happy birthday! This is the first song I've composed/collabed on in months. :) Merry Christmas!

I liked it

It made me look back, to what I had done last year
rather than making me look forward/

It was original but for me not euphoric enough = though it does start getting happy in the middle.. alot like a film score the emotions change alot, some bits sounding FF style and some like a dungeon

well done blackattack - I loved the samples you had, especially the choirs and tambourine - oh and the cymbals. lol

good luck!

blackattackbitch responds:

Thanks man, I was a little worried about the euphoric part too after I submitted it. I focused mainly on the part where Maestro talks about what you would like to have playing in the background as you make a life-changing move. And I took his joke of the Rocky theme and thought of making a song with the same type of emotion. And that's how I ended up with this.

BTW, you can thank Kore 2 for the drum samples, Flobakks for the first set of choirs, and Papelmedia for the second set of choirs.

I can't remember whether I've reviewed one of your songs yet, but imma make sure to do so. Same with Sorrowskies.
